Public speaking

We can be a panelist for your event or deliver a talk or presentation that is tailored to your needs. All services can be delivered online or in person.

Some of our key topics of discussion include:

Personal development workshops

We deliver fun and engaging personal development group workshops for young people aged 11 – 25 across the United Kingdom. The workshops are delivered either online or face to face. In the personal development workshops young people receive support with developing their soft skills.

We have designed an environment in our personal development workshops, to enable young people to become creators’ of their own learning rather than allowing them to simply be a recipient of the workshops. This includes:

  • Experiential activities – structured games or exercises which allow the process of learning to take place. Once the activities are finished all participants are then encouraged to reflect on their experience of the exercises or games
  • A safe space – creating an environment where the young people feel listened to and safe
  • Opportunities – providing opportunities for the young people to talk about about things that matter to them

Through attending the personal development workshops, young people will:

  • learn how to improve their resilience
  • make better informed decisions
  • increase their self-confidence
  • understand how conflict may arise and how to deal with it
  • improve their communication skills
  • manage their emotions more effectively

Training

The training programme is for staff in the United Kingdom who work in primary schools, secondary schools and pupil referral units. The training gives staff, the skills and tools to support students with their behaviour. The programme has been created in partnership with various people like deputy headteachers, young people, youth workers and social workers.

Through attending the training, school staff will:

  • know how to have a productive conversation with a student after an incident, so both parties feel heard
  • understand how to increase parental engagement for students who are disruptive
  • recognise how exclusions have impacted students later on in life through the perspective of students and stakeholders
  • understand what excluded students think would have helped them at school
  • be able to identify different reasons why someone may display challenging behaviour
  • have strategies that they can use to reduce the likelihood of challenging behaviour
  • receive tips and advice in response to our FAQs
  • be able to reflect on everything that they’ve learnt in the training and apply it to a case study

The students really gained a lot of insight into the topic of school exclusions and the talk has inspired lots of discussion in lessons since!  The talk has helped to broaden the students minds about what barriers and challenges young people across the city face during their education, and reflect on their own experiences.” – Jasmine John, sociology teacher at Fortismere school

Personal development workshops : I now understand how everyone sees things differently. It’s shown me different ways to conduct myself in different situations and how important it is to voice your opinions and feelings.” – Young person

Personal development workshops: “Say It With Your Chest did an amazing job and we all came away feeling that little bit lighter. The workshop reminded us to celebrate the small challenges that we overcome on a daily basis and to recognise the skills that we all have and are constantly using. The workshop helped to uncover the thought processes that go into overcoming challenges and showed our young people how resilient they are. The young people have shown a lot of enthusiasm following the workshop and are keen to attend more. ” – Emma ShentonDeputy Manager at One Housing Association
