Everyone who takes part in our programme is known as a SIWYC ambassador. SIWYC ambassadors attend weekly workshops for a duration of 12 weeks. The workshops focus on teaching the students that they may make poor choices but they are not a 'bad' student.
All of our workshops underpin focusing on reinforcing positive behaviours and challenging poor choices. The workshops explore why the behaviours which can lead to exclusion are occurring through group discussions, group activities, videos, games and written activities.
A selection of students chosen to take part in the Say It With Your Chest ambassador programme can also benefit from 1:1 mentoring sessions. The mentoring sessions are structured to suit the needs of the student, however topics which may be covered are self-esteem and goal setting.
In the mentoring sessions we spend time finding out how the students feel about their lives and school rather than assume that we know the answer. We always start the mentoring process at where the students are and not where we want them to be. We also complete activities which are relevant to the students life, age, experience and interests.
